Primary Homework.
The primary homework for this section is to read The Cost of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. What can the call to discipleship, the adherence to the word of Jesus, mean today to the businessman, the soldier, the laborer, or the government worker? What did Jesus mean to say to us? What is his will for us today? Drawing on the Sermon on the Mount, Dietrich Bonhoeffer answers these timeless questions by providing a seminal reading of the dichotomy between "cheap grace" and "costly grace."
Alternative Homework.
The church is missional by nature. We are called by Jesus to go out in the world to bring our neighbors to a saving relationship with Jesus. Our House Churches get to be part of that overall mission by being local expressions of church in our neighborhoods.
